Miriam’s Song Review

Image
Jill Eileen Smith has been a favorite author of mine for a long time. When I heard she was writing a book about Miriam I became excited (just as I am with every book I hear about her writing!!). After seeing the lovely cover, I felt even more drawn, and couldn’t wait to dive in.  Smith has worked wonders again in following this story through and writing about a difficult time. We get to meet characters that are delightful and realistic while we progress through the story. The story progression moves along well (it does cover many years, but Smith handles that well and seemlessly), as well as the character development being on par. I can’t wait to see what Smith writes about next!

A Dance in Donegal Review

Image
Not a lot of Christian Fiction is set in Ireland, and that is the first thing that drew me towards Jennifer Deibel’s novel, A Dance in Donegal. I love the lore of Ireland and the lovey green hues that surround the imagery of such a place. This book did not disappoint on any aspect! From the lovely cover to the lovely story, characters, and world that Deibel built, I fell in love with this book. The plot line moves along at a great pace and the characters develop in a timely and wholesome manner. I will be sure to look out for Deibel’s next novel! I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Courting Misfortunes Review

Image
Regina Jennings has quickly became a favorite of mine after reading her novella in The Kissing Tree collection. When I saw she had a new book coming out, I excitedly jumped on it, and was not disappointed! The banter in Courting Misfortune is well done - I’ve gotten to where I love banter in a book as long as it isn’t forced, and Jennings let’s the conversations flow naturally between her characters. The plot moves along wonderfully, and the character development leaves nothing to be desired. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Network of Deceit Review

Image
In Network of Deceit, Tom Threadgill takes us on another fast paced, action packed trip with Amara Alvarez. As in the previous book, A Collision of Lies, I love the chapter lengths! The character development keeps right along at a wonderful pace and the plot line moves along at a brilliant pace that keeps the reader engaged and the book hard to lay down!  This book is definitely a recommended read for the fast paced reader in your life!

The Thief of Blackfriars Lane Review and Giveaway

Image
Wow!! Michelle Griep has written another fascinating creation in her newest release The Thief of Blackfriars Lane! As with all professions, the more you do, the better you get, and Michelle Griep has proved that to be true again. I believe this is my favorite book of hers to date. (Not in any way saying the previous ones were not enjoyable, just that she is constantly perfecting her art :) ). As the story opens, the author draws us in through an enticing plot line that progresses well throughout the story. The character building is great, and I became quite attached to a few of them by the end of the book. The world building is wonderful, and the author makes us feel as if we are truly in historical London through the scenery, language, and style of that period.  As Griep draws this book to a conclusion, we are left satisfied with the ending, but wishing the characters were real and we could meet them! Tidewater Bride Review

Image
Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve done a review. With the holidays, I took some time off, but now I’m planning on being back for 2021 reviews!  First up is Tidewater Bride by Laura Frantz. Frantz starts us out with a scenario that was new to me about tobacco brides. I love the way Frantz intertwines lesser known history with the story line to not only be interesting to the reader, but also spur interest into the time period.  Frantz has a great plot line as well as fascinating character building. The reader is carried along on an adventure back in time by the mere action of opening a book and reading! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

A Castaway in Cornwall Review

Image
Julie Klassen never ceases to amaze me with her writing! In A Castaway of Cornwall, she makes the reader feel right at home among the seaside of Cornwall as they become engrossed in her story. Character development is great, as well as the flow of the plot.  If you like historical fiction from this part of the world, you will love this book! I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
