The Silent Songbird

Image
I have thoroughly enjoyed Melanie Dickerson’s Hagenheim fairy tale retelling series so far! The Silent Songbird takes the story of the Little Mermaid and retells it in a medieval, Christian plot. Melanie uses rich imagery as well as packs her books out with a mixture of action and romance.

Unhurried Grace Review

Image
Unhurried Grace for a Mom’s Heart is exactly what I look for in a devotional. Short, sweet, and to the point. But, it’s also so much more than that! Durenda Wilson takes 31 different topics and hits on them each day - topics that most of us find near and dear to our hearts. Then, she gives us a place to reflect and mark down what we feel like God is saying to us concerning the devotional as well as what we are saying to God. To top it off, she ends each day with a dig deeper section to cause us to reflect even more on the daily topic.  Each day is short, but also deep, and I really like that in a devotional.

A Powerful Punch Packed in a Little Book

Image
This little book is absolutely phenomenal! My in-laws bought this for me many years ago and I never made it past the second story, but I finally picked it up this month and finished it. It is comprised of 8 sections containing a contemporary story, a Bible passage, a Bible story, and an Application. Every single day had me tearing up. It really helps you focus on the big picture of our every day lives that tend to get mundane sometimes. Very well written! I don’t think it is in print anymore, but can be found second hand at places like thrift books, eBay, etc.
