The Healer’s Apprentice

Image
This was my intro book for this author and I am IN LOVE!! I started reading and could not stop. Melanie Dickerson took the tale of Sleeping Beauty, put her own twist on it, put some Jesus in it, and made a masterpiece! I have already put the next 5 books in the series on hold!! This book took me just a tad over 24 hours to read (and to a homeschooling mom of 5 boys from 5-14, that is a miracle in itself!! 🤣). While reading it, I talked my sister-in-law into reading it, and now even my husband has started reading it!! Amazing piece of work and I can’t wait to read the others!

The Heart of a King

This book did to me what no book has done to me in a long time! I’m usually the person who is constantly watching the clock while I read - not because I don’t like the story, but just because my attention span isn’t what it used to be. The Heart of a King by Jill Eileen Smith did that! I glanced down after what felt like 5 minutes, and I had already read 30 pages! Jill brings the Bible to life in a way I didn’t think possible. She researched thoroughly and tells you when she has taken liberties when there were conflicts in research. She has me almost inderstanding Solomon (although he was very complex and I doubt we will be able to ever fully grasp his mind). Jill does an excellent job of fleshing out characters and making us imagine the what ifs of Biblical fiction, all the while nudging is closer to God and reading the Bible more for ourselves. ** Note I received a complimentary copy of this book from Revell Publishing, However, all opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

The Tinderbox Review

Image
I don’t think there has been a Beverly Lewis book I haven’t liked! This book starts out a tad slow, but quickly gains speed and has you flipping the pages quickly to find out what happens next.  I like that we didn’t have to wait too long to find out what was in the Tinderbox. And of course just when we think all is going well, the book is wrapping up nicely, Mrs. Lewis throws a major cliffhanger at us!! All within the final pages! I am so glad the next one comes out in September, so I don’t have to wait too long to read it!

Eeeeek!! It’s here!!!

So excited to have gotten this in the mail yesterday!!! I’m already on chapter 21 and it is (like all of Jill Eileen  Smith’s books) absolutely amazing!! Review coming SOON!  #theheartofaking

Bread of Angels

This was the final book I had to read of Tessa Afshar’s to date, and it did not disappoint!! Not in the least! I have been enjoying Biblical fiction mainly set in the Old Testament, but this one and 2 others of hers have been set in the New Testament. They have been absolutely phenomenal!  Tessa has taken a character that we don’t know too much about and woven a believable story while sticking true to Bible facts. I laughed, I cried, and I felt inspired!

Odd(ly) Enough

I didn’t know quite what to expect with this one. I enjoy following the author’s page on Facebook (CA Miljavac) and knew I appreciated her views and ability to make me laugh, but I just really wasn’t sure what this book was about. As she puts it in the book, it’s a little of everything! I laughed, I cried, and halfway through, I decided I was going to give it to someone I know that is struggling. I finished it this morning and plan to pass it on this evening. This book is well written -not too wordy, and written in a very down to earth style. I read the book with her voice in my head 😉. I even liked the font! Carolanne has managed to share her story to inspire others. She laid it all out there on the line, and I for one am blessed to have read it!!

The House That Cleans Itself

Image
I’ll be honest - I had to start this book about 4 times to be able to really get into it. BUT, it was not because of how it was written - it was only because I had to actually be motivated to want to read it. It is hard reading something that is going to make you CHANGE 😩. I finally plowed through it, and can I just say WOW! Mindy has a way of writing that makes it feel like she is in your head and has been through what you are going through. She is relatable and never once makes you feel condemned for your housekeeping skills or lack thereof. Next up is implimenting the system!

Land of Silence

One word - phenomenal! I absolutely love how Tessa Afshar takes the story of one of Jesus’s miracles that we often skim over because it is just so short, and transforms it into a full length novel. I laughed, I cried, and I get refreshed after reading this book. She has also been able to introduce characters that will be part of upcoming novels as a way to wet your thirst for more.

I’m Part of the Launch Team!!!

Image
A first for me! I am part of the launch team for Jill Eileen Smith’s newest novel, The Heart of a King!! It will be released on May 1st, and I cannot wait to have a copy in hand to devour! Her novel The Crimson Chord was one of the first Biblical fiction novels I ever read. She is a talented author that researches and knows her stuff.
