Tidewater Bride Review

Image
Wow! It’s been a while since I’ve done a review. With the holidays, I took some time off, but now I’m planning on being back for 2021 reviews!  First up is Tidewater Bride by Laura Frantz. Frantz starts us out with a scenario that was new to me about tobacco brides. I love the way Frantz intertwines lesser known history with the story line to not only be interesting to the reader, but also spur interest into the time period.  Frantz has a great plot line as well as fascinating character building. The reader is carried along on an adventure back in time by the mere action of opening a book and reading! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

A Castaway in Cornwall Review

Julie Klassen never ceases to amaze me with her writing! In A Castaway of Cornwall, she makes the reader feel right at home among the seaside of Cornwall as they become engrossed in her story. Character development is great, as well as the flow of the plot.  If you like historical fiction from this part of the world, you will love this book! I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

A Dress Shop on King Street Review

Ashley Clark’s debut full length novel does not disappoint! I was drawn to the era Clark chose to write in as well as the geographical area. We once lived in the same county as Fairhope.  I adore split time fiction, and Clark fuses the timelines together seamlessly. Character development is great as well as the pace of the plot. I’m greatly anticipating her next novel which looks just as lovely as the first! I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to give a positive review, and all opinions are my own.

To Dwell Among Cedars Review

I like to read a wide range of authors, and I really do enjoy many different books. But, there are authors who are some of my absolute favorites, and Connilyn Cossette is one of those authors.  Each story she has written has gotten better and better. I was kinda iffy going into this book just because I’ve come to love her other series that are all interconnected and I wasn’t sure if this would “measure up” to the others. I was absolutely wrong! This book is done in such an amazing fashion!  We meet entirely new characters throughout the book, and I feel as if I know them personally. Cossette lines us up with anticipation for the next book in this series by having Lukio be an active part of this first book.  My favorite part was the revelation in the tree, and a special piece about Ronen’s instrument. You’ll just have to read it to find out!  The plot moves along at a great pace that kept me interested from the first chapter to the final, moving chapter and epil...

What You Said To Me Review And Giveaway!

Wow! What an amazing finish to a remarkable series! Olivia Newport has wrapped up the Tree of Life series in an inspiring way. I loved how pieces of the previous books were brought in to compound the story and finish off nicely. The father daughter duo we have become attached to in the previous books were back, and character development was superb once again! With a new storyline to dive into through Tisha, we learn even more about Canyon Mines heritage through her ancestry. Nolan and Jillian kept things moving, as well as friends we met in the previous books and new friends from this journey.  While there was just a  tad of romance in this book, I love the fact that it gives a break from the normal heavy romance and that the main characters are father/daughter and not boyfriend/girlfriend. I do love romances also, but it’s nice to just have a break and read lighthearted stories once in a while. The only thing I can think of that would make this better was if Jillian we...

The Escape Review

In The Escape, Lisa Harris gives us an exciting start to her US Marshals series.  The opening scene is developed well and grabs the reader’s attention from the start. Throughout we are met with many exciting instances that draw us into and keep us interested in the storyline. The cliffhanger at the end leaves us waiting for the next story to quickly come out!  The characters are developed well, and the storyline moves along at a great pace.  I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

Softly Blows the Bugle Review

Jan Drexler has created an amazing finale for The Amish of Weaver’s Creek trilogy! I have loved every book in this series. I believe this is the first series I have read about the Amish during the Civil War period, and it was fascinating to see the ramifications of the war on the people.  The characters were a continuation of the previous two books along with some new ones added in. The story line moves along at a rewarding pace, and there was a brilliant conclusion to it all. I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
