Softly Blows the Bugle Review


 Jan Drexler has created an amazing finale for The Amish of Weaver’s Creek trilogy! I have loved every book in this series. I believe this is the first series I have read about the Amish during the Civil War period, and it was fascinating to see the ramifications of the war on the people. 

The characters were a continuation of the previous two books along with some new ones added in. The story line moves along at a rewarding pace, and there was a brilliant conclusion to it all.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, but was not required to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.

  When thinking of a Cinderella retelling, my mind certainly never went to the world that Chautona Havig has created. Havig has taken something “ordinary” and “mundane” and used her creative genius to form a world brimming with new possibilities. At the start of the book, Havig begins setting the stage with the main characters and we learn who is who. As the plot moves along, Havig does an excellent job of building the world and storyline. The plot moves along at a great pace and the character building is on par. But, this is what I have come to expect from a Havig book! Forget and Now Review and Giveaway

This is the first story I have read by Alana Terry and I was blown away! Alana Terry was able to captivate my attention from the beginning to the end. Not only was I captivated, I also did not guess what had happened until the last bit. It was a well drawn out and perfectly time suspense! Childhood Review and Giveaway!

In Childhood, we are able to see into the “beginning of the story” so to speak, and see where the main  characters in Greg Schaffer’s upcoming full length novel Fatherhood are coming from. I like the fact that we see into the backgrounds - a lot of times when we don’t know the background of someone, we are quick to judge rather than feel compassion.
